Every year our school district allows parents, staff, and students to nominate employees for the ROSE award — ROSE standing for “Recognizing Outstanding School Employees.” In over a dozen years of teaching I had never received a nomination, but this year . . .
Alice is my fifth grade library helper and a real treasure.
Please note that the computer teacher, also nominated, contends that the statement “she is always in a good mood” is patently false. And I would like to point out that being “better than the best” is not only a cliché but semantically impossible. Let alone every day.
Still . . . I think this one’s a keeper.
